SteepleCats took advantage of nine Torrington errors 13-3 win
![]() |
After Torrington got on the board in the top of the first inning on an RBI single from Josh Chasse, the SteepleCats were able to use the shaky Torrington defense for the first time in the bottom half of the inning. With John Malloy on second and two out, Paul Hoilman hit a lazy fly ball to Chasse, who played it off to the side and dropped it, scoring Malloy to tie the game at 1-1. The next batter, Cody Stanley grounded a ball to shortstop, where it was booted by Joe DePinto, plating Hoilman to make it 2-1 SteepleCats.
That was just the beginning as the SteepleCats scored in each of the first six innings, at one point having 10 runs on the board, all unearned.
Nearly getting lost in the defensive lapse of Torrington was another outstanding pitching effort from Tim Boyce. The Rhode Island right-hander picked up his fourth win of the season going six innings, allowing six hits and two runs, striking out a career high 11. Overall for the game, four SteepleCats pitchers combined for 15 punchouts of Twisters hitters.
Offensively, Cody Stanley went 3-for-5 for North Adams with two RBI and two runs scored. With his 1-for-3 performance on the evening, John Malloy extended his hitting streak to nine games.
The SteepleCats have tomorrow off before heading to Sanford for a Wednesday evening game. After that, North Adams will play four more at home starting with Youth Sports Night presented by Greylock Federal Credit Union on June 10. For more information visit www.steeplecats.com
