Men's Soccer: Framingham State 4 MCLA 0
![]() |
The Trailblazers actually controlled a good part of the game in the beginning, but in the 11th minute a take down of Brunno Goncalves (Framingham, MA) just inside the box led to the Rams 1st goal. Jared Curry (Westboro, MA) scored on the ensuing free kick and gave the Rams the 1-0 lead. The goal was the Rams 1st shot of the day; in fact the Rams only had 3 shots in the first 35 minutes of the game, all goals however.
The Rams went up 2-0 at the 16:47 mark of the 1st half, when Jason Silva (Milford, MA) buried a shot under the cross bar from 8 feet out off a beautiful cross from Mike Jones (Norwood, MA), who was streaking down the left side. The Rams added one more before the half and had taken firm control of the game.
MCLA (6-7-1, 2-2-1) had some early chances off the feet of Tom Murphy (Springfield, MA) and Joe Deady (Belchertown, MA) and actually out shot the Rams for most of the game. Greg Halle (Beverly, MA) was up to the challenge though, saving all 7 shots on goal he faced; including an acrobatic save off Deady in the 2nd half deflecting the shot just over the crossbar. Halle had a little luck as well, as he misjudged a Chris Nobrega (Mattapoisett, MA) shot in the 2nd half that knocked off the crossbar. Johnny Gonclaves (Framingham, MA) scored 2 goals on the day for the Rams including the only goal in the 2nd half. Dan Saunders (Tewksbury, MA) played well for MCLA, getting some extended time off the bench today.
Framingham State will take on St. Joseph’s (ME) Thursday at home, before putting 1st place on the line at MASCAC co-leader Bridgewater State next Saturday. MCLA won’t play again until Saturday when they try to climb back over .500 in conference in a big game for the Trailblazers at Fitchburg State; game time is 12:00pm.
