Gailanne Cariddi Nominated by Neighborhood EXPO Committee
Gailanne Cariddi's job description, at a glance, would include North Adams City Councilor and manager of Cariddi Sales. With a further search, one realizes Gailanne's true accomplishments in work, volunteering experience, and dedication to projects she is passionate about. She has served on various civic committees, many of them focused on improving our local environment. For her unparalleled contributions, Gailanne has been nominated to receive a new special edition of the Peacemaker Award at this year's Neighborhood EXPO, the Environmental Advocate Award.When unanimously selected as the recipient of this honor, the committee spoke of Gailanne's quiet work in advocating for the environment – both enjoying our area and protecting the natural resources of our area. In her nomination letter, longtime friend Diane Parsons noted that Gail "exemplifies a forward-thinking public servant who acts on her convictions – alone and with others – to effectively move her fellow citizens in directions that will save them money and benefit the community at large." Gail is committed to preserving the environment, and has been actively involved in such projects as the Take Charge Campaign to save energy, the bike path council, the North Adams Public Library building committee, and promoting all forms of recycling throughout the community.
Gail will receive the Environmental Advocate Award at the Neighborhood EXPO on Saturday, December 6. She will also facilitate a workshop discussion, entitled "Enjoying Our Environment," with Al Bashevkin, Executive Director of the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition. This workshop and others will take place from 10:30 a.m. – noon, as part of the day's activities at St. Anthony's Parish Center in North Adams. Please join the Coalition, members of the nominating committee, and community members who enjoy our environment as we honor Gailanne Cariddi, this year's Environmental Advocate. The presentation of the award will take place during our lunchtime segment, likely around 1:15 p.m.
