North Adams, Mass. - MCLA junior Jade Prickett (Westhampton, MA) scored a career high 17 points and first year Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, MA) matched Prickett's total, but it wasn't enough to lift the Trailblazers over visiting Bridgewater State. With the win the Bears (14-10, 7-5) clinch the third spot in the MASCAC and will host Salem State on Tuesday night in the first round of the conference tournament. MCLA (14-11, 4-8) earned the fifth seed and will travel to Worcester State on Tuesday for a 7:00pm game.

MCLA jumped out to an early lead and it wasn't until the 16:30 mark that the Bears finally got on the board. The Trailblazers were able to hold off Bridgewater with as much as an ten point lead at times in the first half. Wehner entered the game four minutes in and made an immediate impact scoring 13 points in the half. Brittney Chappron (Braintree, MA) scored 12 points in the first half leading the Bears on a 15-0 run near the end to take a 35-30 lead into the break.

The Bears came out pressing hard in the second half going on a 13-0 run when Larissa Miner (Greenfield, MA) finally broke the run with a hoop at the 12:30 mark. Bridgewater's Ashley Coucci (Dartmouth, MA) pulled down a game high 19 rebounds. MCLA never gave up and tried to close the gap but they just weren't able to muster the come-back.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

By Tammy DanielsiBerkshires Staff
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.

Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license.

The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.

The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar.

The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant.

Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee.

"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
