Civil War Re-enactors Camping at Natural Bridge

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Natural Bridge State Park in North Adams will be the site of a "Living History Encampment" on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 to 5 and Sunday, Oct. 4, from 9 to 3. 

The 10th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment will be portraying the life of infantry soldiers in the Civil War. Between 1861 and 1864 the 10th lost in excess of 700 of its 1,000 members to death, wounds and disability. As part of the VI Corps, Army of the Potomac, the 10th Mass distinguished itself for its patriotic zeal and fighting ability.

To honor their heroic deeds at places like Fair Oaks, Malvern Hill, Gettysburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor and Petersburg, the present-day 10th participates in living history events, parades, re-enactments and patriotic observances. The regiment is chartered by the state's adjutant general as a heritage unit of the 104th Massachusetts National Guard, Blue-Gray Division.

This program is suitable for all ages and is handicapped accessible. A $2 parking fee will be charged per vehicle. The program is sponsored by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, Hoosac Bank, Jack's Hot Dogs and American Legion Post 125.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.
 
Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license. 
 
The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.
 
The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar. 
 
The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant. 
 
Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee. 
 
"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
