Horse Drawn Carriage Rides Coming to Lee

LEE, Mass. — Horse Drawn Carriage Rides through downtown will be coming here beginning Saturday May 29, and running every Saturday after that, all summer long.

The rides, which will take place from from 11 am to 3 p.m., are being put on by the Lee Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Lee Lodging Association and Angel Mist Farm.

Twenty minute rides leave every half hour, 20 minutes from the Lee Information Booth, 3 Park St. Cost is $20 per person, $35 per couple. A portion of the price of the ride benefits the chamber’s ongoing beautification and marketing projects.

Space is limited and reservations are strongly suggested. To reserve a spot, call 413-243-0852.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, Lee is the first town in the Berkshires to feature such an activity. After clearing initial hurdles with the Town Select Board and Massachusetts Highway Department, the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend kicks off the summer season of carriage rides.

"We’re always seeking new ways to draw people downtown to support the local business community. And we think the carriage rides are a great fit for our picture perfect town," said Lee Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Danielle Mullen.
