Sports Talk Show Returns to NBCTC

Community SubmissionPrint Story | Email Story
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Sports Page, a live, call in sports talk show, will air on NBCTC Channel 15 every Friday at 6 p.m. beginning July 1. The show, hosted by local residents Brian Flagg and Mike Fierro, was a longtime favorite in the community but has been off the air for a few years.

The format of the show is simple. Flagg and Fierro are very involved in youth sports and that is a big part of the show.  While they do discuss sports on the national level, local sports coverage is the reason the show was born.  Frequently, the hosts invite local athletes, coaches and athletic directors to visit the show and highlight their various programs and accomplishments.

When the show comes back, the first guest will be former state representative and current SteepleCats President Dan Bosley.  Bosley took over as president this season and will be stopping by the show to discuss the SteepleCats’ season and some of the exciting things happening this year.

During the summer months when local sports are not as active there will be much more discussion from the national scene and viewers are encouraged to call in and give their views and commentary. There are also various contests the show plans to run where callers can win prizes like free rounds of golf and gift certificates to local restaurants.

So if you are a national sports fan or want to see what’s happening with your young athlete’s team then you should tune in. If you would like to see the show cover something local you can call in during the broadcast or send an to thesportspagelive@gmail.com

The show is directed by Paul Marino and the camera operator is local high school freshman, and son of host Brian Flagg, Zachary Flagg.

McCann Recognizes Superintendent Award Recipient

Landon LeClair and Superintendent James Brosnan with Landon's parents Eric and Susan LeClair, who is a teacher at McCann.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Superintendent's Award has been presented to Landon LeClair, a senior in McCann Technical School's advanced manufacturing course.

The presentation was made last Thursday by Superintendent Jame Brosnan after Principal Justin Kratz read from teachers' letters extolling LeClair's school work, leadership and dedication.

"He's become somewhat legendary at the Fall State Leadership Conference for trying to be a leader at his dinner table, getting an entire plate of cookies for him and all his friends," read Kratz to chuckles from the School Committee. "Landon was always a dedicated student and a quiet leader who cared about mastering the content."

LeClair was also recognized for his participation on the school's golf team and for mentoring younger teammates.

"Landon jumped in tutoring the student so thoroughly that the freshman was able to demonstrate proficiency on an assessment despite the missed class time for golf matches," read Kratz.

The principal noted that the school also received feedback from LeClair's co-op employer, who rated him with all fours.

"This week, we sent Landon to our other machine shop to help load and run parts in the CNC mill," his employer wrote to the school. LeClair was so competent the supervisor advised the central shop might not get him back.
