NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts athletics department held their 25th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration Saturday afternoon. The Trailblazers welcomed 62 girls and 13 women to campus to participate in a variety of clinics. The celebration is held in conjunction with the national event, which is themed "Girls in Sports, an Investment in the Future."

The student athletes at MCLA assisted in the clinic presentations along with department members and coaches. Soccer and basketball clinics were held for girls, followed by a performance with the Nexxus step team. The adult sessions were focused around pickleball. Other clinics included sessions on nutrition and overall fitness.

"The day is special for these young athletes, along with the student-athletes here at MCLA," said Kaylyn Smith, assistant to the director of athletics and a member of the National Girls and Women in Sports day committee. "It gives them a chance to watch a college basketball game and to interact with the athletes in a fun and friendly environment, while learning aspects of the game."

After the clinic sessions, guests were invited to the Trailblazers basketball doubleheader versus Worcester State. The women's basketball team then participated in an autograph session to round out the day.
