Pittsfield Cyclocross Returns to Common
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Pittsfield Cyclocross youth bicycle racing series returns on May 30 for its 13th edition after a two-year hiatus.
This four week series of races for children ages 12 and under will take place at the Pittsfield Common on First Street on Thursday nights from May 30 through June 20. Races are free and each week is a new, standalone event so attendence to all four is not required.
Registration opens at 5:30 p.m. and requires a signature from a parent or guardian. Racing starts at 6:30 for the 6-and-under category. The different categories are 7-and-8, nine-and-10 and 11-and-12.
The course is flat and a mostly grass-surfaced loop around the common. Any type of bicycle may be used. Helmets are also required and some will be available to borrow.
The series is presented by Berkshire Cycling Association in cooperation with the city's Department of Community Development Parks and Recreation. For more information contact Mike Ward at 413-499-0462.
