Motor Vehicle Excise Taxes Due In Lanesborough

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — The first commitment of the fiscal 2015 motor vehicle excise taxes are due on Thursday, March 26. Bills were mailed on Feb. 24.
Payments received after March 26, will be subjected to 12 percent interest after the due date.
Taxpayers are asked to please include the Collector Copy (bottom half) of their bill with their payment. Payments should be mailed to the Town of Lanesborough, Tax Collector, P.O. Box 1616, Lanesborough, MA 01237.
Taxpayers are reminded that if they have received a bill and no longer own the vehicle, they need to contact the Board of Assessors to file for an abatement. The Board of Assessors can be reached at 413-442-8622.
For those who wish to pay in person, the tax office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 to 1 and Wednesday evenings from 5 to 7. Tax bills can also be paid online at www.lanesborough-ma.gov. Taxpayers who have questions on their bills can contact the collector's office at 413-442-0813 or town.collector@lanesborough-ma.gov.
Motor vehicle excise tax bills that are not paid or abated within 30 days of the bill date will accrue interest at 12 percent per year and a demand bill will be issued. If a motor vehicle excise tax demand bill is unpaid after 14 days, the bill will be turned over to the deputy collector and additional fees and interest will be due. If still left unpaid, the taxpayer's license and registration will be marked for non-renewal at the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
