MFBF Partners With A&B Insurance

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. The Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) announced it has entered into an agreement with A&B insurance, an independent insurance agency based in Westford.

"MFBF is much more than the insurance or discounts we offer," said MFBF President Warren Shaw. "However, the single most important reason we've entered into this new agreement is that we believe it will provide our members with more and better options to help ensure the security of their family, home and business."

Immediately, A&B Insurance will be offering MFBF members discounts on policies with CountryWay, which is affiliated with Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance. However, now that we have an agreement in place, several other companies have applied or will be applying to the Insurance Commission for permission to offer discounts. MFBF and A&B Insurance expect discounts with multiple insurance companies to be available to members in the spring.

"A&B Insurance Group is excited to have the opportunity to work with the Massachusetts Farm Bureau," said John Oakes, A&B Insurance co-owner. "As an independent insurance agency, A & B represents multiple insurance companies. This allows us to provide insurance choices in meeting the Farm Bureau members insurance needs. Being an independent insurance agency means we work you, the member, not any on insurance company."

This agreement went into effect on Jan. 1, 2022. MFBF encourages its members to visit https://abinsgroup.com for more information on A&B Insurance and to call them about how they might be able to best meet their insurance needs.

Dalton Select Board Argues Over Sidewalk Article

By Sabrina DammsiBerkshires Staff
DALTON, Mass. — A heated discussion concerning sidewalks during Monday night's Select Board meeting resulted in the acting chair calling a recess to cool the situation.

The debate stemmed from the two articles on the town meeting warrant for May 6 at 7 p.m. at Wahconah Regional High School.

One proposes purchasing a sidewalk paver for $64,000 so sidewalks can be paved or repaired for less money, but they will use asphalt rather than concrete. The other would amend the town's bylaws to mandate the use of concrete for all future sidewalks.

The article on concrete sidewalks was added to the warrant through a citizen petition led by resident Todd Logan.

The board was determining whether to recommend the article when member John Boyle took the conversation in a new direction by addressing how the petition was brought about.

"I just have a comment about this whole procedure. I'm very disappointed in the fact that you [Logan] have been working, lobbying various groups and implementing this plan and filed this petition six weeks ago. You never had any respect for the Select Board and …" Boyle said.

Before Boyle could finish his statement, which was directed to Logan, who was in the audience, Chair Joe Diver called point of order via Zoom.
