BENNINGTON, VT—August 22, 2022— Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC), part of Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC), is pleased to announce that Disha Geriani, MD, has begun as a pulmonologist within SVMC Pulmonology and as the medical director of Critical Care at SVMC.

"Dr. Geriani has a rich background of skills and experience, and we are exceedingly pleased to welcome her to this important dual role," said Trey Dobson, MD, the chief medical officer of SVMC and an Emergency Medicine physician with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. "She will work closely with our hospital medicine physicians, surgeons, teleICU physicians and staff from Dartmouth Health, and our critical care nursing team to expand our inpatient acuity and outpatient services over the next several years."

Geriani received her medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore, India. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in New York and a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine with Spectrum Health and Michigan State University. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

With the appointment, Geriani will see patients with problems related to lung function, perform bronchoscopy procedures, and provide critical care in SVMC’s Intensive Care Unit. She will see patients in suite 307 of the Medical Office Building, which is located at 140 Hospital Drive in Bennington.

"I am very excited to be a part of SVMC, a place where my goals of bringing the highest quality pulmonary and critical care to the community resonate with those of the hospital team," Geriani said. "I aspire to provide the kind of care to my patients that I would expect my own family members to have, and it is great to see all my colleagues sharing and striving for the same."

Through advanced testing and treatment of conditions including COPD, asthma, and apnea, SVMC Pulmonology helps patients manage their condition, minimize health consequences, and lead fuller lives. For more information, call 802-447-4555.

Coggins Auto Group Celebrates Five Years

By Breanna SteeleiBerkshires Staff
BENNINGTON, Vt. — The family-owned Coggins Auto Group is celebrating five years of operations: Coggins Toyota of Bennington and Coggins Honda of Bennington, and Coggins of the Berkshires in nearby Massachusetts.

Mike Coggins purchased three dealerships — Honda, Toyota and Ford — in 2020 with a goal to restore trust and a "true sense of community-minded dealership culture."

"My primary focus from day one was bringing back that connection to the region," Coggins had said back in 2021. "This area values real relationships. They want to know the people they're doing business with. We set out to rebuild that trust."

The Ford dealership was sold off in 2023 and Coggins of the Berkshires, with sales and services for used cars, opened the same year in Pittsfield, Mass.

According to Coggins Auto Group, the dealerships had social media ratings of two stars when they were purchased; now all Coggins locations are garnering more than four stars in customer satisfaction reviews.

"We sell cars, and we fix cars, and our goal is just to make our customers happy, and keep our employees happy, and that's what's made this really work these last few years," said General Manager Scott O'Connell.

Coggins Auto Group is also involved in events that benefit the community, including its popular annual charity golf tournament that funds local charities and organizations such as the Bennington Little League.
