Ghost Tours At Ventfort Hall

LENOX, Mass. — Join Robert Oakes, author of "Ghosts of the Berkshires," who will lead a tour through the allegedly haunted historic estate.
 
The tour will take place on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 pm. This is not an active investigation.

Robert Oakes is an author, teacher, storyteller, and performing songwriter. He has written three books, "The Ghostly Tales of the Berkshires" (2023), "Ghosts of Northwestern New Jersey" (2022), and "Ghosts of the Berkshires" (2020), all published by Arcadia Publishing. 
 
Since 2010, Robert has led tours at historic locations in the Berkshires, including Ventfort Hall and Edith Wharton's The Mount. 
 
He has also given talks and readings and led a writing workshop at Arrowhead, home of Herman Melville. He has appeared on Syfy's Ghost Hunters, Jeff Belanger's New England Legends series on PBS, and The Apple Seed show on BYUradio and has been featured in The Boston Globe, The Berkshire Eagle, and numerous other media outlets. 
 
Oaks has written and produced media for AAA, Canyon Ranch, and a number of other organizations and performs as part of the folk music duo Oakes and Smith. Robert has taught elementary, middle, and high school English, as well as adult workshops, and currently serves as associate director of communications at Rectory School in Pomfret, Conn.

Lenox Winterland Festival Set Saturday

LENOX, Mass. — The Lenox Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual Winterland event this Saturday from 10 to 2 on Church Street.
 
It will include eight to 10 artisan craft vendors, food, doughnuts with Santa and music on upper Church Street.
 
Attendees can shop with local merchants as they offer holiday specials or browse the artisan crafters present for gifts for friends and family. Products include handcrafted jewelry, candles, maple syrup products, alpaca hats and mittens, glassworks and more. 
 
Kids can meet with Santa from 10 to noon and receive specially crafted doughnuts from Shire Donuts for $5. Live entertainment will be provided by Christine Bilé from noon to 2 at 51 Church St., where Antimony Brewing and Charlie's Bistro trucks will serving food and beer. Restaurant Cello will have hot cocoa and cookies at its spot along with brunch service.
 
The Lenox Chamber will be a raffling off a basket valued at $250. Raffle tickets are $10 and all proceeds will be donated to the Elizabeth Freeman Center as will the proceeds from Doughnuts with Santa. Attendees can also enjoy the Holiday Tree Walk where businesses have individually decorated trees complete with a hidden pickle for the kids to hunt for. Maps will be available at the chamber table at the event.
 
The local downtown merchants will also have holiday specials and plenty of gift ideas for the season. Some will be offering other treats to enjoy while shopping. Clothing, blankets, home goods, toys and even great artwork can be found at sale prices.
