BArT Charter Public School To Host Annual Get BArT Smart Fundraiser

Get BART Smart features a trivia experience; individuals, duos, and teams of up to 6 will travel from classroom to classroom throughout the evening for trivia and team projects served up by BArT educators.

"Get BART Smart is all about bringing people together," said Jonathan Igoe, BArT's Executive Director. "For 19 years, this event has delivered a fun-filled evening of trivia, food and drinks, and community connection. Whether you're coming with friends or looking to meet new people from around the region, we'd love to see you there."

This event is the primary fundraiser for the School, the proceeds of which directly benefit student programming. The School also invites companies to sponsor this well-established and well-attended event.

"There is a lot to be excited about with this year's program," said Leah Thompson, Director of Advancement at BArT. "The support of this event by our community is amazing!"

This event is open to everyone 18 and above. Tickets are $75 each and include food, drinks, and entertainment. Friday Afternoon Fire Destroys Cheshire Barn

CHESHIRE, Mass. — A fire on Friday afternoon destroyed a barn at 920 Sand Mill Road.

 

The building is a total loss but firefighters were able to prevent the flames from reaching another nearby barn and the house at Stoney Brook Farm. 

 

Fire Chief Thomas Francesconi said the fire was called in 12:39 p.m. by the homeowners "but it already had a foothold before they noticed it."

 

Responding firefighters found the L-shaped structure fully involved. Adams, Lanesborough, Savoy and Windsor fire companies responded and Williamstown Fire covered the station.

 

The tankers were used to transport water from a nearby brook until a pool could be set up near the scene and water pumped into it. 

 

Northern Berkshire EMS responded and one firefighter was treated at the scene and then taken to Berkshire Medical Center. 

 

Francesconi said there were no other injuries but the owners told him there were 18 chickens in the barn. The structure also had equipment and other materials in it, including a Jeep.
