Monterey
Election: Tuesday, May 5, noon, Town Hall. Kenn Basler, former Select Board chair, won the three-year seat as a write-in with 217 vote; Tryon had 81 and Reif-Caplan 15. Stephen Zweig elected to the Parks Commission with 12 write-in votes and all incumbents returned to office. Turnout was 35.85 percent with 313 of 873 registered voters casting ballots.

Eighteen articles: Total town budget of $4,507,456, including debt service, ($6,116,176.25 including school budget), $58,179.33 from free cash to make additional principal payments, $157,955 from free cash for ambulance services, $31,000 from free cash to support the Lombardo Park Committee, and seasonal communities designation.
Article 3, the budget, had several motions to hold lines for the next town meeting which were defeated though line 913 Unemployment Insurance was amended from $12,000 to $34,510. Article 14, Community Preservation Act, was amended to 3 percent; no action was taken on Articles 16 and 17, regarding town boards appointing members.
Mount Washington
Election: Tuesday, May 12, noon to 7 p.m., Town Hall. Ava Garrett won five write-in votes for School Committee and Eleanor Wilkinson five votes for Planning Board. All incumbents re-elected.
