PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Are you looking for a "castle" to call your home? Then this might be the place for you.

Our Friday Front Porch is a weekly feature spotlighting attractive homes for sale in Berkshire County. This week, we are showcasing 7 Lincoln St.

This 1910 home has two bedrooms and one full bathroom and one partial bath. It is 1,506 square feet.

Featuring distinctive lions in the front welcoming you to the stone home with curved windows, it is known famously as "the castle on Lincoln Street."

The home features hardwood floors, vintage details, and an open concept between the living, dining, and kitchen areas. The two closets in the second bedroom are in the process of being converted into one.

The house also has a fenced in back yard to enjoy. While some renovation is still needed, it's open for a new buyer to come and make their own.

The house is on the market for $185,000.

We spoke to the current owner and Jonathan Vella with Lamacchia Realty, Inc.

What do you think makes this house stand out in the current market?

This is a beautiful building — it stands out just the way it is. It's The Castle! Great history and aesthetic.

What would you say to a buyer trying to imagine their life in this space?

Smaller efficient house with lots of potential. Big bedrooms, open concept, and the enclosed lovely backyard space. Almost raw space to apply your vision board dreams.

Do you know any unique stories about the home or its history?

Local historian Joe Durwin said it was built by William P. Burbank, son of Abraham Burbank, one of Pittsfield's most notable builders. Abraham was responsible for establishing numerous downtown blocks and owned multiple hotels. He is credited with building Pittsfield's historic Springside House.

What do the current owner love most about this home?

She loves the balcony, backyard space, and open concept on the first floor.

Are there any standout design features of recent renovations?

New ceiling and walk in closet in back bedroom.

How would you describe the feel or atmosphere of this home?

Eclectic and unique.

What is the neighborhood like?

As someone who's actually lived in the neighborhood I can say it's safe and friendly. You get what you give. It's walking distance to all of downtown and leads to a very urban feel — if you like city living this property will scratch that itch!

Nine Injured in Washington Mountain Road Crash, Prompting Mass-Casualty Response

Staff ReportsiBerkshires
DALTON, Mass. — Local public safety personnel responded to a mass-casualty incident Sunday on Washington Mountain Road based on the number of patients although the injuries were reported to be "minor."

At approximately 12:52 p.m., the Fire Department was dispatched to the scene for a report of a multi-vehicle rollover accident.

At the time of the initial response, three patients were reporting injuries. However, after further assessment, first responders determined that there were a total of nine — prompting a mass-casualty incident response, the Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

A Jeep Cherokee driven by Anthony Stracuzzi, 27, was traveling north toward Dalton when it crashed into a Jeep Wrangler because of improper equipment.

Stracuzzi will be cited for the crash, Police Chief Deanna Strout said. At this time, the crash is still under investigation.

Stracuzzi’s vehicle was carrying three adult passengers and a baby. The Jeep Wrangler was driven by a 34-year-old man and had two juvenile passengers.

No life threatening injuries were sustained, however some injuries were more serious than others, Strout said.
