Our Friday Front Porch is a weekly feature spotlighting attractive homes for sale in Berkshire County. This week, we are showcasing 9 East Road.

This four-bedroom and three-bathroom home was built in 2014 and is 3,864 square feet with an acre of land.

The home features a whole house wifi-controlled sound system with surround sound in the family and media rooms. The home also includes external cameras to enjoy your home in peace.

When you step inside the home you will notice an expansive open floor plan filled with natural light, with wood flooring throughout. The living room has a stone, gas fireplace to keep you cozy in the winter.

The kitchen and dining area features quartz countertops, a breakfast nook, and custom finishes. The primary bedroom features a walk-in closet and an attached bathroom with a bathtub.

Down in the finished basement is an exercise room and more rooms to entertain. While outside in your private back yard is a pool to enjoy in the warmer months or enjoy meals or alone time on the back deck. The house also has a three-car garage.

The house is on the market for $1,150,000.

We spoke with Sean Taylor with Moresi Real Estate Partners who is listing the home.

What do you think makes this house stand out in the current market?

This house is literally a dream come true. The house has been fully vetted, doesn't need a thing. Very great use of space and is a Kruzel Built custom residence.

What would you say to a buyer trying to imagine their life in this space?

The house is in move-in condition, and has state-of-the-art mechanics, windows, decks and more.

Do you know any unique stories about the home or its history?

The house is only 12 years old and has had one family who made it an executive manor.

What do the current owners love most about the home?

That it is a great fit with plenty of room to move around or hide quietly.

Are there any standout design features or recent renovations?

The Trex deck had a complete replacement, and a new general generator.

How would you describe the feel or atmosphere of this home?

Very well laid out where the new owners can make it their own.

What is the neighborhood like?

The house is in "farm country" and set back enough from the street to enjoy sitting on your covered front porch or in the attached screened gazebo or enjoying privacy in your back yard.

Adams' Cook Street Bridge Slated for Replacement

By Sabrina DammsiBerkshires Staff
ADAMS, Mass. — The deteriorating Cook Street Bridge is slated for improvements, with the state favoring a superstructure replacement that would address the bridge's structural needs while minimizing impacts to the surrounding area.

The Cook Street Bridge primarily serves local traffic, spanning the South Branch of the Hoosic River and providing connections between the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, Albert Street and Crotteau Street. It has a 12-ton weight limit.

The estimated cost at this point is $6.1 million.

The single-span bridge, originally constructed in 1957, has developed several structural deficiencies in recent years, including deteriorating steel beams with section loss and rusting, said Kasey Burke, project manager for the consulting engineering firm TEC.

Additionally, there are holes in the underside of the deck that have exposed rebar, which is restricting travel across the bridge, she said.

Deterioration of the bridge deck beneath the pavement is also resulting in several potholes on the road surface, which presents an ongoing maintenance issue for the town, Burke said.

The planned replacement will have 10-foot striped travel lanes in each direction and be the same length of the current bridge, without adding any extra supports.
