Dowling, Budaj Score in McCann Tech Girls' Season-Opening Win

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Aimee Dowling and Jordan Budaj scored just more than a minute apart in the second half to give the McCann Tech girls soccer team a two-goal lead, and the Hornets hung on for a 2-1 win over Franklin Tech in Wednesday’s season opener.

 

Hannah Fuller set up Dowling in the 59th minute to break a scoreless tie. One minute, 36 seconds later, Julia Esoldi fed Budaj to make it 2-0.

 

Franklin Tech scored with just more than five minutes left to ruin the shutout bid for Alanza Quinones, who recorded eight saves.

 

McCann Tech (1-0) goes to Commerce on Friday.
