SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Mostly everyone got invited to the party on Monday, as the McCann Tech girls' soccer team received goals from five different players in a 5-1 road win over Putnam.

The Beavers only had 11 players to work with, and the Hornets (11-5-1) got them in a hole early, scoring twice within the first nine minutes of the game. Junior Alexa Durant scored her sixth goal of the season less than seven minutes in, and McCann quickly made it 2-0 when sophomore Jocelynne Smith finished off a feed from Mary Nguyen a minute and a half later. Freshman midfielder CJ Schleich increased the Hornets' lead later in the first half with an unassisted goal in the 27th minute.

Senior goalkeeper Becky Daniels didn't have to make a single save in the first half, as McCann outshot Putnam 9-0 over the first 40 minutes of play. She came out of the net at halftime, however, and got some playing time at forward, where had herself a moment to remember in the 54th minute, scoring her first varsity goal off an assist from junior Alex Lincoln. The Beavers got on the board with a strike from Caroline Ramos in the 65th minute, but Mike Dowling's squad took the momentum right back on sophomore Breeana Rodriguez's first goal of the season five minutes later.

Alex Wood and Britt Lillie combined to make four saves in net for the Hornets in the second half, whlie Mayayla Smith finished with 14 stops for Putnam.
