Taconic Takes Opener at Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Chase Wendling went 3-for-3 with four RBIs on Friday to lead the Taconic baseball team to a 13-1 win over Holyoke in the Thunder's season opener.
 
Wendling drove in Ethan O'Donnell with a single to right field in the top of the first for the game's first run.
 
Taconic went on to take a 2-0 lead in the second but broke the game open with 10 in the top of the fourth to grab a 12-0 lead.
 
Christian Salzarulo went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs.
 
Evan Roccabruna also went 2-for-3 at the plate.
 
Damon Pause earned the win on the mound, striking out 11 and walking just one while allowing two hits and no earned runs for a complete-game victory in a game that ended after five innings.
 
Taconic (1-0) hosts East Longmeadow on Tuesday.
