SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sal Ortiz struck out 10 and allowed just two hits Friday to lead the Springfield Central baseball team to a 10-1 win over Taconic.

One of those two hits was a solo home run from Gavin O’Donnell in the top of the first inning.

Central responded with a run in the bottom of the frame and took control with a six-run second inning that included a two-run double by Central’s Julio Solier Ramos, who went 2-for-4 in a 10-hit attack for the Golden Eagles.

Eddie Ferris had the other hit for Taconic.

The Thunder got two innings on the mound from starter Damon Pause, who gave the ball to Connor Paronto to finish things out.
