NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Justin Pendrick had a hat trick Thursday to lead the Belchertown boys lacrosse team to an 11-2 win over McCann Tech.

“Belchertown came ready to play and shot out to a six-goal lead,” McCann Tech coach Paul Lange said. “They have speed and skill. Darian Tovani scored his first with only a few seconds left in the first quarter. We made a few adjustments on defense and in goal and won the second quarter with Darian’s second goal. Rylie Fortini stepped in and made some key saves for us.

“The third quarter was tightly played until Tovani went out with an injury, and after that we struggled to generate offense.”

Fortini and Keegan Dellaghelfa combined to make nine saves in the McCann Tech goal.

The Hornets (1-1) are at Brattleboro, Vt., on Friday.
