The Mount Greylock boys and Wahconah girls earned the county’s top seeds in their respective Central/Western Massachusetts Championships.

The Mounties were seeded third in the Division 3 boys tournament, according to the brackets released on Friday morning at Tantasqua Regional High School.

Mount Greylock leads a pack of four Berkshire County squads in the 12-team D3 field.

The Mounties (17-1) and fourth-seeded Wahconah (13-5) earned byes into the quarter-finals of the boys tournament.

No. 10 Hoosac Valley (10-5) and No. 12 Lee (9-9) will play quarter-final games on the road at No. 7 Pope Francis (10-10) and No. 5 Nashoba Tech (16-4), respectively.

The brackets for both the boys and girls tournaments announced on Friday are technically unofficial until a standard 24-hour appeal period expires.

In the girls Division 2 field, Wahconah’s girls (13-5) matched their school’s boys team with a No. 4 seed.

There are 15 teams in the girls D2 draw, which means only top-seeded Groton-Dunstable received a bye into the round of eight.

Wahconah’s girls will open up against No. 13 Oakmont.

No. 6 Mount Greylock (11-6) will host No. 11 Notre Dame.

The Hoosac Valley girls, at 9-5, will open their first ever appearance in the post-season as the No. 14 seed and travel to face No. 3 Littleton in the first round.

No dates or times for first round games were posted on the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association’s website as of noon, but Mount Greylock’s athletic department tweeted shortly after the seeding meeting that the school is planning a double-header on Thursday with the girls first round game at four followed by the boys against the winner of the St. Bernard’s/Assabet Valley first-round game.
