Paul, Spartans Edge Hoosac Valley

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Andrea Paul scattered eight hits and allowed two earned runs for the Monument Mountain softball team in a 5-4 win over Hoosac Valley on Monday.
 
Paul struck out three in a complete-game effort for the Spartans.
 
Monument Mountain rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 4-2 deficit and take the lead.
 
Meg Dupont reached on an error that allowed Alex Tenney to score with two out to put the Spartans on top for good.
 
Olivia Simms went 2-for-3 with a double to lead Monument Mountain's offense, which also got a double from Ember Raifstanger.
 
Rachael Wnuk and Gracelyn Wright each had a pair of hits for Hoosac Valley.
 
Wright went the distance in the circle for the Hurricanes, allowing just one earned run and striking out four.
 
Hoosac Valley (9-2) is at Ludlow on Tuesday.
 
Monument Mountain (11-1) goes to Smith Vocational on Wednesday.
