Lothrop Survives Recount

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Jonathan Lothrop survived Monday's recount and will remain the Ward 5 City Councilor.

According to City Clerk Linda Tyer, after the recount Lothrop defeated Joseph Breault by seven votes - 772 to 765. The unofficial results of the Nov. 8 election had Lothrop winning by only six votes, 773-767, and Breault asked for the recount. Recounting the ballots did not change much. Breault lost two votes and Lothrop lost one in the process.

The final tally includes 83 blank votes and 8 write-ins.
