The MCLA physics department will host Dr. Julianne Pollard-Larkin Thursday in CSI 121, with a reception preceding the talk at 4pm in the CSI Atrium. Dr. Pollard-Larkin is a Full Professor of Medical Physics and Service Chief of Thoracic Radiation Physics at MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the nation's top-ranked cancer centers.   Her talk will weave together cutting-edge research in cancer treatment with her personal journey in science. She will highlight innovations like FLASH ultra-high dose rate radiotherapy and share how her identity, heritage, and upbringing have fueled her career.    This talk is free and open to the public. Free parking on Blackinton and Montana Streets.

In celebration of National Library Week, join us for a screening of "Free for All: The Public Library," a documentary film which examines “how public libraries shaped a nation and remain a beloved sanctuary for Americans today.” The screening will be followed by a short (and optional) round-table discussion about the power of libraries – ours and others!    Refreshments including popcorn, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. Come early to get settled. Movie starts at 6:30 and discussion at 8pm.   RSVP appreciated.
