STORYTIME WITH STAY & PLAY
Becket, 10:30 a.m. to noon

Becket Athenaeum hosts a storytime from 10:30 to 11 followed by an hour of stay and play with toys, games, puzzles, and snacks for the kids, along with coffee, tea, snacks, and time for connection for the caregivers. Stop by for either or both.

A SPECIAL SPRINGTIME STORKS STORYTIME WITH AUTHOR CAROL MUNRO
Pittsfield, 10:30 a.m.

The Berkshire Athenaeum will host acclaimed children’s author Carol Munro for a special Springtime Storks storytime on Saturday, May 9. Based on a true story, Springtime Storks is an ode to the resilience, dedication, and love between two migratory birds, while also delivering an urgent message about conservation. When Katerina, a majestic white stork, is shot and left unable to fly, a man and his granddaughter rescue her while her devoted mate, Luka, stays by her side—until winter forces him to migrate alone. In spring he returns, and together they raise a new brood, overcoming Katerina’s injury with ingenuity and enduring devotion.   Following the storytime, kids will have the chance to create their own stork hand puppets and learn more about storks and their remarkable migration patterns!   ??This Mass Kids Lit Fest event is presented in partnership with the Massachusetts Center for the Book. DISLOCATED PRESENCES: TECHNOLOGY, THE PSYCHE, AND THE MEANING OF VIRTUAL SPACE

This free hybrid event at Austen Riggs Center is a roundtable on how digital technologies are reshaping psychic life with moderator Hannah Schmitt. Panelists will consider how teletherapy, online rituals, and screen-mediated relationships challenge and extend traditional psychoanalytic concepts, including transitional space, the container-contained, and the skin ego.

FLORA AND THE JAZZERS STORYTIME AND DRAW ALONG WITH ASTRID SHECKELS
Lenox, 11 a.m.

Join us at The Mount for a special storytime and draw-along with acclaimed author and illustrator Astrid Sheckels! The event is focused on Astrid’s gorgeous new picture book, Flora and the Jazzers, a heartwarming tale of a determined young ferret who dreams of moving beyond her role as a scullery maid, and seeing her favorite band perform. A live drawing demonstration will follow the reading.  Books will be available for purchase through The Mount’s Gift & Bookstore, and an author signing will follow the program.  ??This Mass Kids Lit Fest event is presented in partnership with the Massachusetts Center for the Book and the Lenox Library. For a full schedule, please visit https://www.makidslitfest.org/.   *In the event of inclement weather, this program will be held at the Lenox Library.   Award-winning author/illustrator Astrid Sheckels cannot remember a time when she was not telling or illustrating stories, especially ones involving imaginary animals. A native of western Massachusetts and growing up in an artistic family, Astrid spent her childhood playing outside, using her imagination, and drawing. Her Scandinavian roots are evident in her artwork, which she describes as a “mix of classic realism and whimsy.” She is a member of the Western Massachusetts Illustrators Guild and has artwork in the permanent collection of The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. Astrid’s picture books include the Hector Fox and Friends series, the Sea Dog series, Flora and the Jazzers, and Nic and Nellie. GREAT POLLINATOR COUNT STORYTIME & HUNT

Join the Berkshire Botanical Garden for a storytime with children's author Susan Edwards Richmond. The event is focused on her new book "The Great Pollinator Count," which follows Mellie and her classmates as they explore the world of insect pollinators and discover the power of teamwork and community science.

CLARK ART: GLIMMERGLASS PRESENTS HAPPY END

The Glimmerglass Festival brings a satirical early-twentieth-century classic to the Manton Research Center auditorium. This gritty musical tale of gangsters and the Salvation Army features a famous score by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht. Tickets start at $40 for this collaborative production with Opera Saratoga.

A HORSE OBSERVED: AN EQUESTRIAN EXHIBITION

THESE MYSTERIOUS HILLS PRESENTS 'MACABRE PITTSFIELD' WALKING TOURS: DARK ORIGINS

Downtown Pittsfield. A walk back in time through the dirt and cobble-stones of early Pittsfield, past its burial grounds and nefarious saloons, its brothels, opium dens, and grisly crime scenes. Journey into the darker areas of Pittsfield's past with journalist Joe Durwin on three distinct walking tours offered in May. DALTON LIONS CLUB PRESENTS THE REFRIGERATORS
Dalton, 7:30 p.m.

The Stationery Factory features the Refrigerators, a 10-piece, horn-fueled party band from New York's Capital Region of NY. Also performing are the Hotshot Hillbillies with their country and classic rock.

The Lions Club uses the funds raised to buy eyeglasses and hearing aids for the needy along with giving out a scholarship to Wahconah Regional High School.

ADAMS LIONS CLUB ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
Adams, 8 a.m.

Adams Lions Host Golf Tournament

Proceeds will support Lions initiatives, including scholarships for local high school graduates and community events, such as a Halloween parade for local children and lunch for senior citizens. In addition, the club assists residents who need help with vision and hearing loss-related needs and supports research to cure eye diseases and diabetes.

The entry fee is $50 per player/$200 per team and includes nine holes of golf, carts, longest drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, and a chance to win $10,000 for a hole-in-one, Sponsored by Smith Brothers McAndrews Insurance.

Lunch from the Adams Lions Club food truck is included in the cost.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning teams.

The group introduced its signature sound on 2001's ‘The Black Bear Sessions.’ Between selling out hallowed venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, they've been responsible for launching signature festivals Hangtown Music Festival in Placerville, CA and Hillberry: The Harvest Moon Festival in Eureka Springs, AR. Sought after by legends, the John Denver Estate tapped them to put lyrics penned by the late John Denver to music on the 2019 vinyl EP, ‘Railroad Earth: The John Denver Letters.’

FORAGE FEST: A WILD FOOD GATHERING

This inaugural Forage Fest is a one-day gathering at event space Creative Legion in Hudson, N.Y., celebrating the wild, the seasonal, and the deeply local.
