CLARK ART - TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES: EARLY COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY AND CONDITIONED VIEWING

Rachel Lee Hutcheson analyzes early turn-of-the-twentieth-century color photographic technologies that utilized lantern projectors and stereoscopic viewers. The presentation examines how "Natural Color" photographs were experienced as spatial events rather than just material objects. More details are available at the Manton Research Center.

OPENING RECEPTION: "STRANGE MOUNTAINS" BY DALILA SANABRIA

AUTHOR TALK WITH GAIL GELBURD

Local artist and author Gail Gelburd will discuss her biographical fiction novel inspired by the rediscovered letters and archives of the adventurous 20th-century figure Sue Moody. The presentation explores Moody’s extraordinary life, from hitchhiking across America to surviving the outbreak of WWII in Paris as an aspiring journalist. A reception and book signing with the author will follow the reading and discussion at the Town Hall.

Jim Tews has performed all over the U.S. and internationally. He's been a part of several notable comedy festivals including San Francisco Sketchfest and Just For Laughs Montreal. His two live albums debuted in the top three comedy titles on the iTunes charts, and both receive regular play on satellite radio. He's appeared on NBC, FX, and more. He continues to perform mostly in New York but is willing to travel to whatever other cities, states, or countries will have him.
