Sophie N. Walach

Sophie N. Walach, 87, of 95 North Summer St. died yesterday at North Adams Commons Health Care Center. Born in Adams on Jan. 31, 1914, daughter of Albert and Anastasia Gajda Walach, she attended local schools. She was employed by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning in Adams for 10 years and the former Rochester Paper Co. in Adams for 30 years, retiring in 1976. Miss Walach was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Kostka Church. She leaves two brothers, John Walach of Elizabeth, N.J., and Stanley Walach of Adams. The funeral will take place Friday, Sept. 14, at 9 from the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME in Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, celebrated by the Rev. John C. Chwalek, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Kostka Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
