Charles N. Perras

Charles Norman Perras, 68, of 93 Cleveland Ave. died yesterday morning at the Williamstown Commons, where he had been admitted Monday. Born in Plymouth on May 26, 1933, son of Louis Perras Jr. and Albina Doucette Perras, he moved to Stamford, Vt., at an early age and attended school there. He also attended the former St. Joseph's and Drury high schools. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving from June 1952 until his honorable discharge on April 25, 1956. Mr. Perras was employed in his own trucking business and, most recently, by the former James River Rochester Co. in Adams for 10 years, retiring in 1996. He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church. He enjoyed woodworking. He leaves his wife, the former Joyce A. Leeming Knickerbocker, whom he married Sept. 7, 1991; a daughter, Lynda D. O'Neil of North Adams; a stepson, Bruce Knickerbocker of Adams; four stepdaughters, Mary Mansfield of Ellenville, N.Y., Janet Poincelot of Dalton, Laura Knickerbocker of Adams, and Nicole Brazeau of North Adams; four sisters, Germaine Gamache of North Adams, Beatrice Rubendahl of the state of Florida, Bernadette Bock of New Jersey and Ella Kinsley of Townsend; a brother, John Perras of Nashua, N.H., and 15 grandchildren. A son, David J. Perras, died in 1977. A brother, Roland Perras, and a sister, Albina Perras, are deceased. The funeral is Saturday at 8:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Funeral Mass at 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA-Hospice of Northern Berkshire in care of the funeral home.
