Merle C. Craik

Merle Campbell Craik, 90, formerly of 147 Pomeroy Ave., died Aug. 5 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on June 14, 1911, daughter of William and Ettie Campbell Craik, she graduated with honors from Pittsfield High School. After graduation, she was employed as an assistant payroll clerk for Eaton Crane Fine Paper Co. She later became employed by GE in the power transformer division, where she was the assistant to the paymaster. She retired after 45 years with the company. Ms. Craik was a lifelong member of Pilgrim Memorial Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. She leaves a sister, Dorothy Campbell Craik Madden of South Glens Falls, N.Y. There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to meet inside the gate of Pittsfield Cemetery at noon Tuesday, Sept. 18, for a graveside service for Merle Campbell Craik conducted by the Rev. Cory Loder, pastor of Pilgrim Memorial Church. Expressions of sympathy may be made through WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, with donations to the organization of one's choice or to Pilgrim Memorial Church in her name. Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Campbell Craik Madden and her husband, Richard M. Madden of South Glens Falls, N.Y.; nieces and nephews, David C. Madden of Lake George, N.Y., Dennis J. and Lynne Madden of Macedon, N.Y., Mark C. and Paula Schleicher of Norwich, Vt., Katherine S. and John Manchester of Hanover, N.H., Martha S. Clark of Austin, Texas, and Paul C. and Lori Schleicher of Scottsdale, Ariz. Ms. Craik was predeceased by a younger sister, Inez Campbell Craik Schleicher of Hanover, N.H.
