Virginia MacDonald, 83
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Virginia Ann MacDonald, 83, of 107 Richview Ave. died Friday, July 19, 2013, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in Clarksburg on Dec. 18, 1929, daughter of Raymond and Ruth Grogan Bliss, she attended Clarksburg schools and graduated from Drury High School.
Mrs. MacDonald was last employed by the former General Photo in Williamstown. She had earlier worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 25 years and, in her younger years, at the former J.C. Penney store on Main Street.
She attended First Baptist Church and was a member and past matron of Naomi Chapter 17 Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a Boston Red Sox fan.
Her husband, George C. MacDonald, whom she married on June 9, 1950, died on Aug. 31, 1999.
She leaves two daughters, Gail Fischer and her husband, George, of Clarksburg and Dianne Hajdas and her husband, Francis, of Adams; a son, Glenn MacDonald and his wife, Maria, of Griswold, Conn.; two sisters, Betty Smith and her husband, Gil, of Canton, Ohio, and Norma Cutting of Dalton; four grandchildren, Renee Hajdas, Amanda MacDonald, Charles Fischer and Darren Hajdas; one great-grandchild, Rebekah MacDonald; a sister-in-law, Hilda Koscielniak and her husband, Martin, of North Adams, and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers and sister Richard, Clifford, Robert and Ann Bliss; and her sisters- and brother-in-law Mary MacDonald, Dorothy Morin and Arthur MacDonald.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. MacDonald will be Saturday, July 27, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 9 to 11 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
