E. Lahey-Chevalier

Elizabeth V. Lahey-Chevalier, 87, a resident of North Adams Commons, formerly of 3 Myrtle St., died yesterday morning at home. Born in Adams on April 2, 1914, daughter of William Henry Hakes and Lena M. Schermerhorn Hakes, she attended the former Grove Street Grammar School. Mrs. Lahey-Chevalier was employed by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Corp., where she was bobbin tender. From 1957 to 1966, she was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co., where she assembled transistorized capacitors. She was a member of the First Congregational Church. Her first husband, William Lahey, whom she married Dec. 20, 1930, in Adams, died Nov. 14, 1948. Her husband, Clarence F. Chevalier, died March 29, 1976. She leaves three daughters, Joan Lahey Ouellette and Nancy Lahey Patenaude, both of Adams, and Muriel Lahey Rosswell of West Point, Va.; two brothers, Edward J. Hakes and William F. Hakes, both of Adams; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be observed Monday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. in the MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams, with the Rev. Donald E. Gray, pastor of First Baptist Church of Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Bellevue Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours and the family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions in her memory are suggested to the Adams Ambulance Fund, 47 Park St., Adams, MA 01220, or through the McBride Funeral Home.
