Edward Forfa

Edward Forfa, 81, of Englewood, Fla., formerly of Lee, died Sept. 13 at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Englewood. Born in Housatonic on Dec. 28, 1919, son of Walter and Helen Kopacz Forfa, he attended East Lee Grammar School and graduated from Lee High School. He moved to Florida in 1983. A World War II Army veteran, he served in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, including in the invasion of Normandy and in northern France. He received the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He was employed by Mead Corp. as a paper maker. Mr. Forfa was a member of St. Francis' Church in Grove City, Fla. He also was a member of the Clyde Lasser Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10178 and the Oyster Creek Golf and Country Club, and a life member of the American Legion Post 276, all in Englewood. He leaves his wife of 60 years, the former Dorothy M. Pratt; a daughter, Janet Forfa Streeter of South Windsor, Conn.; three sons, Dennis Forfa of Englewood, Terry Forfa of Niceville, Fla., and Edward Forfa of Lee; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
