John Ameresekere

John N. Ameresekere, 54, of 85 Linden St. died Sept. 1 at home. Born on Aug. 24, 1947, son of the late Flavia Ameresekere, he attended schools in Sri Lanka. He came to the United States in his early 20s. He served in the military police in Sri Lanka. Mr. Ameresekere studied music with a teacher from the Boston Conservatory. He taught the violin and the fiddle in the Pittsfield area, and was an accomplished jazz guitarist. He worked at several venues and had been recorded on local television music programs. He also worked on the crisis team and assisted as a telephone assistant for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service of Berkshire County. He attended the former Bible Speaks Fellowship in Lenox, where he volunteered his musical talents, as well as at other churches and organizations. He leaves no immediately family.
