Margaret Besancon

Margaret R. Besancon, 84, formerly of 909 South Main St., died Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore. She had resided with her granddaughter, Christine Begley, in Baltimore since spring. Born in Great Barrington on April 28, 1917, daughter of Gustaf and Agnes Shelley De Vaux, she was a 1934 graduate of the former Searles High School. Mrs. Besancon was employed by the former New England Telephone Co. in its Great Barrington office for 13 years. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church. Her first husband, Donald S. Turner, died in 1949. Her husband, William A. Bescanon Sr., died in 1991. She leaves two daughters, Judith Maeda of Long Beach, Calif., and Karole Stockall of Sacramento, Calif.; a stepson, William A. Besancon Jr. of South Egremont; two stepdaughters, Judith A. Race and Nancy L. Collins, both of Great Barrington; a sister, Helen Masoero of Inverness, Fla.; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Services for Margaret R. Besancon will be held in Baltimore. Burial services will be held at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery, Great Barrington. HICKEY-ROY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of local arrangements.
