Frances Partenope

Frances Dolores Partenope, 83, of 12 Hospital Ave. died Monday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she had been admitted Sept. 14. Born in North Adams on July 28, 1918, daughter of Felice and Philomena DeMeo DiTursi, she attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1936. She was first employed by Sprague Electric Co. Before her retirement in 1981, she was employed as a cook and housekeeper at the St. Francis of Assisi Church rectory and the St. Anthony of Padua rectory. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where she was an organist and member of the church choir in her younger years. She was a longtime volunteer for St. Anthony church functions, including the St. Anthony bazaar committee and the LaFesta committee. She was a member of the North Adams Lodge Sons of Italy and a longtime volunteer at the North Adams Regional Hospital and its gift shop. She also was a former member of the North Adams Emblem Club. Her husband, Thomas Cassio Partenope, whom she married Sept. 18, 1943, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, died May 31, 1989. She leaves two sons, Paul V. Partenope of Gorham, N.H., and Thomas F. Partenope of North Adams; a sister, Amelia Bissaillon of Jacksonville, Fla., and four grandchildren. Three brothers are deceased, including Vincenzo DiTursi, Michael DiTursi and Pasquale "Pat" DiTursi. Funeral Thursday at 8 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Shrine, Mass. Ave, North Adams. Burial will be at a later date in Southview Cemetery. No calling hours. Donations to St. Anthony Building Fund, American Diabetes Association, or the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
