William B. Roberts, 96

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — William Bemis Roberts, 96, of 54 Musterfield Heights died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on Feb. 25, 1919, son of William G. and Amy Brooks Roberts, he graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1937 and from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. Mr. Roberts was the owner and operator of Excelsior Printing Co. for many years until selling the business to Crane & Co. in 1983 and retiring. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, now All Saints, in North Adams. He was an avid golfer and was a lifetime member of Taconic Golf Club and of the former North Adams Country Club. He and his wife, the former Doris Lindsay, were married on Nov. 24, 1945. Besides his wife of 69 years, he leaves three daughters, Lynn C. Penson of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Wendy L. Roberts of Cornelius, N.C., and Candice L. Agnew of Naples, Fla.; a son, Jeffrey L. Roberts of Ware; six grandchildren; a former daughter-in-law, Judith Roberts of Belchertown, and nieces and nephews. His sister, Virginia White, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Roberts will be private. Burial will take place in Clarksburg Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
