Patrick H. Knapp, 35, of 78 East St., an Alert Hose Company firefighter, died Saturday morning at MedSource Technologies in Pittsfield, where he had worked for 12 years. Born in Rochester, N.Y., on Oct. 14, 1965, son of Kenneth and Judith Gallagher Knapp, he was a graduate of East High School there. He also took courses in drafting at Rochester Institute of Technology. He moved to Adams in 1985. At the time of his death, Mr. Knapp was project manager at MedSource. He had also worked for its predecessor, Apex Engineering and, for a short time, for GE. He had been a firefighter since September 1999, after being elected as a member. Mr. Knapp was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a lay preacher, youth leader and deacon. He also made several trips to the Dominican Republic as a missionary and was a coach for the Adams T-ball league. He and his wife, the former Susan C. Montgomery, celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary June 18. Besides his wife and parents, of Rochester, he leaves a son, Shaun P. Knapp, at home; a daughter, Jasmine M. Knapp, also at home; a brother, James Knapp of Bear, Del.; and two sisters, Meg Yagoda and Christine Jackson, both of Rochester. Mr. Knapp also leaves his father- and mother-in-law, Harold and Sandra Donnelly Montgomery of Williamstown, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by services at 11 at First Baptist Church, 13 Commercial St., Route 8, Adams. The Rev. Donald E. Gray will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Knapp Children's Trust Fund through the funeral home.
