Dorothy Gerry, 89

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Dorothy "Dot" Rumbolt Gerry, 89, of Liberty Street died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Adams on Feb. 14, 1926, daughter of Denis and Maud Chenail Gingras, she was a longtime resident of North Adams, attending local schools and raising her family there.
Her first husband, William "Tom" Rumbolt, whom she married in 1945, died in 1969.
She and her husband Cyril "Chappy" Gerry, whom she married in 1975, worked together and retired from Williams College.
She was a strong, independent and hard-working woman of New England stock. As a child, Mrs. Gerry had fond memories working and playing on the Chenail farm. She was a caring, supportive and loving mother to her family. She loved her home and hearing from her grandchildren.
Besides her husband of 40 years, she leaves three daughters, Beverly Henderson of California, Nancy Rumbolt-Trzcinski of North Adams and Darlene Masse of Adams; a stepson, Robert Rumbolt of North Adams; a sister Elizabeth Patterson of North Adams; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Another sister, Florence Doran, had preceded her in death.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Gerry will be Friday, Dec. 11, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, with interment in Southview Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held on Friday morning from 10 to 11 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to The Seeing Eye, PO Box 375, Morristown, NJ 07963-0375.
