Nancy Alice Blay, 79

ADAMS, Mass. — Nancy Alice Blay, 79, of Columbia Street died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, at her home.  

Born in North Adams on June 21, 1936, daughter of Walter F. and Christine Sherman Busby, she graduated from Drury High School there with the class of 1955.

Mrs. Blay was employed at various convalescent homes in the area, lastly by the former Berkshire Rest Home and former North Adams Regional Hospital.

She was a caring and loving person and helped anyone who needed her. She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church and enjoyed long walks with her dog.

She and her husband, Joseph Francis Blay, were married on Oct. 28, 1960.

Besides her husband of 55 years, she leaves a son, Joseph Blay and his wife, Mary Kate, of Springfield; five grandchildren, including Joseph I. Blay; several great-grandchildren; two cousins, Donna Dobbert and Joyce Wrend, and nieces and nephews, including Mary Coury, who was her primary caregiver.

She was predeceased by her son David Blay; a daughter, Debra Bartel, and her brother Ronald Busby, in infancy.

FUNERAL NOTICE  — The funeral for Mrs. Blay will be Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at 8:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Millard Cemetery in Stamford, Vt.  

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Dec. 30, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Berkshire Visiting Nurse & Hospice or St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in care of the funeral home.

I send out my condolences to his family. I knew both of them from the spruces. I will keep her in our prayers. She was a wonderful woman.
