Mary R. Hartman, 91

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mary Rose Hartman, 91, of North Adams and West Yarmouth, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Williamstown Commons.

Born in North Adams on June 8, 1924, daughter of Camillo and Rose Mazza Canino, she graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1942.

Mrs. Hartman worked at the former Molly's Bakery, a family business, for many years. She was last employed at the former Roberts Co. department store in its women's dress department for 15 years until her retirement in 1986.

She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and its successor, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, and was a member of the Clarksburg Seniors. She enjoyed flower gardening and caring for her home, and she loved little children, the ocean, and animals. Her life revolved around her daughter, granddaughter and great-grandson, whom she loved dearly, and she found peace on her trips to Cape Cod.

Her husband, Russell C. Hartman, whom she married Sept. 6, 1948, died on Feb. 1, 1996.

She leaves her daughter, Rosemarie Hartman Perry and her companion, Ray Hartman, of Williamstown; her granddaughter, Sarah McClelland and her husband, Brian, of East Longmeadow; her great-grandson, Liam N. McClelland; nieces and nephews including Mark Hartman; her cousins, Nancy Gaudette, Carole Kalisz, Jean Kochman, Judy Mellyn, Mary Ann Maroni and John Mazza; and her good friends and caregivers Sister Natalie Cain and Mary Ellen Faustini.
