Lois E. Morrissey, 86

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Lois Eleanor Blanchard Morrissey, 86, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Brookdale Fillmore Pond in Bennington, Vt.

She was born in North Adams on Feb. 8, 1930, to Leon and Anna Ashton Blanchard. She attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School.

Mrs. Morrissey worked for the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company in North Adams for 30 years until her retirement in 1978. For many years, she lived in Lake Worth, Fla.  

She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of North Adams. She enjoyed crafts, bowling and family gatherings. She will be remembered for her beautiful knitting, delicious cooking and gentle humor.

Her husband, William J. Morrissey, whom she married on July 27, 1964, died May 11, 2001.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews: Keith Blanchard and his wife Julie and Kevin Blanchard and his wife Lisa of Clarksburg; Donna Blanchard of Plainville, Conn., and Susan Blanchard and her husband Keith Phillips of Mill Valley, Calif. She is also survived by five great-nieces and great-nephews and three great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was pre-deceased by a brother, Kenneth Blanchard, and a sister-in-law, Janice Gleason Blanchard.  

Funeral notice: Funeral services will be Saturday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals’ West Chapels at 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery. 

Calling hours are Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
