Chester F. Zieba, 77

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Chester F. Zieba, 77, of 3 Myrtle St. died Friday evening, March 25, 2016, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y.
He was born in Adams on July 1, 1938, a son of the late Henry and Mildred (Alibozek) Zieba. He attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Army Signal Corps, until his honorable discharge in 1963.
Mr. Zieba last worked for the Adams Water Department for over 20 years, until retiring 15 years ago. Earlier, he worked as a laborer for several area construction companies through the local Laborer's Union.
He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, and a member of the Laborer's Union and Adams Sportsman's Club.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying spending time in the woods, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed mushrooming, gardening, and sports, especially the Red Sox and Celtics. He was well known for making intricately hand-carved walking sticks.
He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Pelletier of Adams; a brother, Henry Zieba and his wife, Eileen, of Adams; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, his twin, Joseph Zieba, and Richard Zieba.
Funeral service: The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 30, at 9 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Tuesday, March 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
