Walter B. Baran, 87

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Walter B. Baran, 87, of 37 Alger St. died on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
He was born in Adams on April 26, 1928, a son of the late Walter and Stephanie (Milos) Baran. He attended schools in Adams.
Mr. Baran was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Roosevelt. He last worked as a machinist for the Yankee Atomic Electric Company in Rowe.
He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II in Adams. He was a member of the Stamford Men's Golf League. Walter had his pilot's license and built and flew his own airplane. He enjoyed flying, golfing, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, the former Marion J. Brooks, whom he married on September 3, 1951; one son, Paul Baran and his wife Michele of Margate, Fla.; two daughters, Pamela Sommer and her husband Donald of Adams and Teresa Waryjasz and her husband Edward of Adams; one brother, Francis Melillo and his wife Joanne of North Adams; two sisters, Bernadette Kordana and Florence Kordana, both of Adams; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Perrier of Savoy; six grandchildren, Amy, Michael, Marnie, Jessica, Clay and Emma; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Baran, who died on August 26, 2014, and by his sister, Frances Therrien.
Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 7, at 9 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Hoosac Street, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Wednesday, April 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
