Maria Lysy, 80

GREAT BARRINGTON -- Maria Lysy, 80, of 205 High St., Housatonic, died Saturday. Born in Poland on Sept. 1, 1921, daughter of Prohor and Julianna Nikita Osasko, she emigrated to the United States in 1950 and moved to Housatonic in 1951. Mrs. Lysy was employed by the former Monument Mills in Housatonic and by the former David's Hat Co. For many years, she was also a seamstress and a housekeeper for area businesses and homes. She was a communicant of All Saints' Church and a member of the Polish National Alliance. She and her husband, Alfonse Lysy, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary June 11. They were married in Poland. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Stanley J. Lysy of Westfield and John R. Lysy of Hudson, N.H.; a sister, Elizabeth Zwerow of Russia, and five grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Maria Lysy will be tomorrow morning at 9:30 from HICKEY-ROY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in All Saints' Church celebrated by the Rev. Anthony J. Jutt, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 4 to 7. Donations may be made to the All Saints' Church Memorial Fund or the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association, both in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
