Carol A. Denault, 80

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Carol Ann (Smith) Denault, 80, of Clarksburg died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the Williamstown Commons. 

She was born in North Adams on July 15, 1935, a daughter of the late John Francis Smith and Marion Agnes (Mahoney) Smith. She attended the former St. Joseph High School in North Adams. She was first employed at the J.J. Newberry Store in North Adams and then at North Adams State College. She was last employed at the Green Mountain Race Track in the admission department, retiring in 1992. 

She was a devoted communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams and later at St. Elizabeth Church. 

Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. Her husband Francis L. "Pete" Denault, whom she married July 6, 1957 ,died March 26, 1999. 

Survivors include her three loving children Julie Blanchard and her husband Keith, Diane "DeeDee" Lefebvre and her husband Richard, and Daniel Denault and his wife Patricia "Tricia,” all of Clarksburg; three grandchildren, Erin Chen and her husband Jack, Ryan Denault, and Matthew Lefebvre and his wife Krista; one great-grandchild, Zinnia Chen; one sister, Christine Moser of Clarksburg; and several niece, nephews and sisters- and brothers-in-laws.

She was predeceased by a sister and a brother, Joan Mausert and Daniel F. Smith. 

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Carol Denault will be celebrated Thursday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. 

Calling hours are Thursday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.

Memorial donations are suggested for the Adult Day Health Center of North Adams or Masses said in her name.
