Esther R.Ring

Esther R. Ring, 82, formerly of Stockbridge, died Friday at Timberlyn Heights Nursing Home. A native of West Stockbridge, she was born August 18, 1918, the daughter of Guy and Maria Augustini Bertini and attended local schools. She was a graduate of the Household Nursing Association of Boston, MA and was employed as a nurse for 16 years at the Great Barrington Rehab & Nursing Center . She also did private duty nursing for many years. She was past President of the St. Patrickâ€™s Church Rosary and Altar Society and taught in the Church CCD programs. She moved from West Stockbridge to Great Barrington in 1968 and then resided at Heaton Court in Stockbridge from 1987 until this past August. During World War II she served as a nurse with the Women Marines and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. She was a member of Libardi Post, American Legion of West Stockbridge. Her husband Walter J. Ring, whom she married June 28, 1948 died August 12, 1964. She leaves a daughter Judith R. Shaw of Putney, VT, two brothers, Henry G. Bertini of Pittsfield and John Smachetti of Dalton and four grandchildren. A daughter Suzanne N. Ring died in an auto accidet November 1, 1968. â€˜Ihe funeral for Esther R. Ring will be Monday Nov. 20 at 9:30 from the HICKEY-ROY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Patrickâ€™s Church, West Stockbridge, celebrated by Reverend Steven F. McGuigan, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Patrickâ€™s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5. Mrs. Ring was predeceased by four sisters Mary Pegorari Worden, Lena Consolini, Rosemary Oggiani and Elvira Smachetti. Mrs. Ring leaves her son-in-law Bernard J. Shaw and grandchildren Brendan, Brian and Dennis Gibbons and Andrea Shaw.
