William Boilard, 79

PITTSFIELD -- William G. Boilard, 79, of North Fort Myers, Fla., died Saturday at home. His wife, the former Phyllis Rogers, is formerly of Pittsfield. Born June 27, 1922, in Ludlow, he was the son of Adelard and Lillian Daigle Boilard of Indian Orchard. Mr. Boilard was an Army veteran of World War II. He received the Purple Heart while serving as a corporal in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Yankee Division, in France, Belgium and Czechoslovakia, and including the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Boilard was the retired president of A. Boilard Sons Inc., a lumber company in Indian Orchard. A communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam, he was active in area lumbermen's organizations, serving on the board of the Northeast Lumbermen's Association. He served the American Red Cross as a licensed Ham Radio operator for emergency damage control and was a former member of the Indian Orchard Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included traveling, photography, woodworking and golf. Besides his wife of 55 years, he leaves three sons, David Boilard of Toledo, Ohio, Timothy Boilard of Ludlow and John Boilard of Palmer; two daughters, Susan Longhran of Lewiston, N.Y., and Anne Bonk of Feeding Hills; two brothers, Conrad Boilard of Tavares, Fla., and Robert Boilard of Wilbraham; a sister, Lillian Lapine of Hancock, N.H., and 11 grandchildren. Another son, Paul Boilard, died in 1960. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William G. Boilard will be Wednesday at 9 from COLONIAL FORASTIERE FUNERAL HOME OF AGAWAM, with a Mass at 10 at St. John the Evangelist Church and burial in St. Aloysius' Cemetery in Indian Orchard.
