Louis E. Matney, 75

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Louis Edward Matney, 75, of North Adams died Friday, June 10, 2016, at his home.
He was born in North Adams on August 16, 1940, a son of the late Edward Michael Matney and Rose (Haddad) Matney. He graduated from Drury High School and was employed as a Massachusetts state assistant deputy insurance examiner and later as a self-employed businessman.
Lou was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church, where he was an usher. He also was a member of the North Adams Republican City Committee, Kiwanis Club and the Lebanese Social Club.
Survivors include his son, Louis E. Matney Jr. of North Adams; two grandchildren, Lylian Rose Matney and Chandler Edward Matney; an aunt, Nadia Matney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four sisters, Joan Gomeau, Wanda Matney, Linda Tassone and Marion Segalla.
Funeral notice: A liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 16, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Church, North Adams, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
Calling hours at the church are Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested in his memory to the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
